Happy Winter 2026! Just took a much needed month off for the Holidays & to get my 2026 season in order. Just couldn’t stay off the water any longer so I snuck out for a personal day Tuesday Feb 3. Was greeted with cool foggy weather but found 2-3’ of visibility & 43-44 degree water temperatures. There was a ton of debris in the water due to recent tides, add dense fog & it was slow going most of the day. Fished about 6-7 spots over 4hrs & managed 15 fish up to 15lbs. Also, a good number of those fish were in the 3-5lb range & a few went 6-8lbs. May have picked the right day & the right tide but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fishing & had the Delta to myself. The day was likely one of my better Feb. days in recent years & it was great to start 2026 off with a bang! In an effort to keep it fun I fished exclusively in shallow water(2-6’) with type 3 lines & a Steve Adachi style rattle Clouser(Black/Chartreuse with purple cheeks-Joker). Winter fishing can be a very spotty time so was fortunate to catch the fish I did, that said, they are out there & on the right day you can get after it if you are feeling frisky!
