Eagle Lake

Eagle Lake is on my radar for Fall! October and November are probably the best time of the year to fish here. Despite the cold Eagle Lake can be very rewarding, with its own unique strain of rainbow trout. Starting in mid October, big rainbow trout will start to feed heavily on Tui Chub, Scud, and Leeches as they bulk up for a chilly winter. Balanced leech under an indicator from the boat or float tube is an excellent way to fish Eagle. We also have the opportunity to fish intermediate techniques with wiggle tails and scud patterns. If fishing from shore or wading, we use a spey/switch rod for long casts with indicators or intermediate. Keep in mind as the weather shifts, days can be very cold, with icy guides, so remember to layer your clothing accordingly and bring hand and feet warmers.
