Feather River Fly Fishing Report
Fishing on the Lower Feather River has been fishing well, with plenty of pods of salmon stacked thick in the Low Flow area. Anglers targeting steelhead in between these pods have had some success, with quality fish being caught.
Recommended Flies:
Eggs
Fox Pupa #14
Hogan’s S&M #16–18
A few redds are present in the Low Flow section, so be observant and cautious while wading. Salmon are still actively pairing up, making careful wading essential.
The High Flow section is a completely different story. Flows are currently at 8,000 CFS, making wading across the Thermalito Outlet risky. High flows have created challenging conditions, so it’s recommended to fish from a boat rather than wade.
Overall, the Feather River is producing solid steelhead and salmon action, but anglers need to adjust techniques and stay aware of river conditions.
Tight lines!
