It’s been fishing decent, as long as you can fish in and around all the salmon there are some steelhead to be had. They’ve been hanging out in the faster shallower oxygenated water and away from where the salmon are. I’ve noticed over the last few weeks the majority of the salmon have moved up which is nice. Salmon season opened July 16th and it was a bit of a zoo the first week or so with the big boats, but it has slowed down a ton and there are steelhead to be had in the high flow as well. 6500cfs isn’t easy wading in the high flow, so please know your abilities as well as where you can safely wade. Best to fish from the boat if you have one, but there are a handful of spots that are fishable from the bank if you know where to go.
Same as the Yuba, as we get into fall, we know what goes down, EGG BITE and it gets lights out. Looking forward to this year’s fall season. Already a great deal of salmon on the feather.
