Fishing Reports

Lake Almanor – It was a busy Memorial Day weekend.  A lot of boats on the water up here, but that didn’t seem to bother the fish. The Chironomid hatch is still going strong, with few of my trolling friends reporting they are starting to see Hex in fish. Balanced leech or chironomids rigs under an indicator have been most productive. #10 Chironomids, and #8 balanced leeches have been producing the best.Temperatures at the Lake are going to rise this week, which will jump start the Hex into getting more active. It’s a little early to judge how this year’s hatch will play out, however I am going to remain optimistic. We fished yesterday and had about 10 fish to the net, with about 4 over 22 inches and the largest being a 26 inch brown trout.
