Lake Oroville Fly Fishing Report – November
By Ryan Williams
This is Ryan Williams with your Fly Fishing Specialties on the Water Report for Lake Oroville!
October was a bit on the slow side — nothing too special to report. The warm, summer-like weather kept the lake feeling more like August than fall, and the fish haven’t quite made their full transition into their fall/winter pattern yet.
That said, history tells us that November and December are prime months on Oroville, and conditions are setting up perfectly for things to really fire off. With cooler temps, cloud cover, and some rain in the forecast, the fish should start to push shallow and feed aggressively as they move into their late-fall frenzy.
The go-to technique right now is the Float-n-Fly. Running 9–12 foot leaders has been the sweet spot, and that setup will continue to produce as the water cools.
Best bite windows remain early mornings and late evenings — especially for the bigger spots — but as the water temps drop, expect more consistent, all-day feeding activity.
It’s shaping up to be a fantastic late fall season on Lake Oroville. Get your Float-n-Fly gear ready — November should deliver!
Tight lines,
Ryan Williams
