Lake Oroville is fishing about as good as it gets right now. We have had a steady bite throughout the day from about 7am -3pm assuming stable and consistent weather. IF a cold front moves through the bite can die or slow dramatically but with nice 75-85 degree days the bite can stay strong all day if you adjust accordingly. Find 62-65 degree water throughout the day keeps the bite going as well as fishing shade once the sun is high in the sky.
Float and fly fishing has been good all day as well as a midday streamer fly bite on floating and sinking lines. Top water fishing should be just around the corner with a good top water bite early morning followed by a streamer bite and then a float and fly bite mid-day. Average fish is in the 1-3lb range with a few in the 3-5 coming to the fly.
April and May are the best months of the year to be on the Lake and can offer some amazing fishing for spotted bass.
