Fishing Reports

Pyramid Lake is a wonderful Lahottan Trout fishery north of Reno, Nevada.  Its season runs through the winter months into spring.Fishing Pyramid conditions can be considered as good.  Most fish that will be caught are in the 14 to 24 inch range with some going larger than 30 inches.

The best bite is in the morning hours.  Fish will be swimming within a rod’s length from you.  Going into the late morning and early afternoon, the bite will start to slow.  Don’t let that deter you if you choose to fish the rest of the day.  Take a break.  Take a nap.  Grab a beer (or soda).  The bite could pick up at a moment’s notice.
Indicator fishing with midges and balanced leeches seemed to be the hot ticket.  Fish seemed to like red Chironomid Bombers in size 12 and black Solitude Balance Leech size 10.
For those who prefer to strip flies on a sinking line, try fishing Estaz Wooly Worms.  Chartreuse and black was a hot color.
