Fishing Reports

We are just getting into prime striper season on all the valley rivers but the Lower Sacramento in particular. The migratory schools have broken up and the resident fish are entering into their summer haunts and patterns. Fishing has been picking up everyday, especially with the heat of this last weekend. The wind can be an issue but most of the wind is north from Red Bluff. Water temps and clarity are good and fish are actively eating throughout most of the day. Heavy sinking lines are the norm this time of year as fish are in 4-10′ of water and flows are pushing pretty good. Flashy flies with heavy lead eyes are the norm and if the clarity becomes and issue due to run off from creeks or banks falling in rattles are a must. June-September is prime time and fishing should only improve from here on out.
