San Francisco Bay Fly Fishing Report – Capt. Patrick Mackenzie
Conditions: Good

It’s been a breezy summer on the Bay, but we’re finally seeing things start to settle down. As the wind begins to lay down, we’re getting more consistent shots at fish and overall better conditions to work with.

Water clarity is still a bit off, with visibility hovering around 3 feet—not perfect, but definitely good. We’re targeting fish in areas with slightly better water movement and clearer pockets when possible.

We’re running 8wt rods paired with full sink to intermediate lines to cover the water column effectively. The name of the game continues to be baitfish imitations, which have been drawing solid attention and producing quality hookups.

With the improving conditions and reliable action, now’s a great time to hit the water.
