Trinity River
300cfs out of Lewiston
Clarity is very Clear
This river seems to always be at the top of the list to fish as it is a very constant river with fresh rotations of fish in the winter. on the regular. Flows are finally back to 300cfs out of Lewiston and should stay at 300cfs till April 15th with the annual spring flow releases.
Nymphing has been off the hook, using dark stoneflies, golden stones, egg imitations as well as CJs, March Browns, large Callibaetis patterns and worms. With a big storm coming in, this river will get a nice flush and bring in those mid winter steelhead that we havent seen yet. Typically much bigger than the earlier winter steelhead.

Swinging has been extremely good all throughout the system and Ive been focusing my efforts from Cedar Flat to Douglas City. Personally I stay away from the stretch of river from Steel Bridge to the dam to let those spawning steelhead spawn in peace. Black and Blue has been the hot color choice, but swinging golden stones has been extremely productive as well. Other color combos include Winters Hope, Black and Chartreuse as well as Purple and Pink.

With a few months left to fish this system before spring flow releases, this next month is going to be gang busters. Lets not forget you can fish dry flies this time of year as well and we are getting a few to look up at our dries, some commit some dont. But hey, thats dry fly fishing for ya.
