California Delta Fly Fishing Report
With perfect tides and excellent weather at the end of last week, the North Delta lined up beautifully for fall striped bass fishing. I had two industry friends on the boat, and we spent the day targeting stripers in ultra-shallow water — about 90% of our fish came from less than three feet deep. The bite was steady, with plenty of solid fish in the 6–8 lb range!
This pattern should hold strong for the next couple of weeks as long as the conditions stay stable, so now’s the time to get out there or book a trip with a guide and experience some world-class fall Delta fishing.
We fished intermediate and Type 3 lines most of the day. Early on, the fish preferred darker patterns, while white-over-chartreuse flies produced well once the sun was up.
