Lower Feather River Fishing Report
The Lower Feather River has been fishing great in both the High-Flow (2,453 CFS) and Low-Flow (680 CFS) sections since the recent flow drop in the upper stretch. Anglers are finding success fishing baetis (#16–18) and egg patterns in the mornings, then switching to caddis (#14) and eggs in the afternoons. This combo has been producing some solid Steelhead throughout the system.
In the High-Flow, a few lingering salmon are still spawning, and you’ll find Steelhead staged up behind them feeding on eggs and drifting nymphs. The Low-Flow section, however, tells a different story—there are still a large number of salmon pairing up and aggressively defending redds from nearby Steelhead. Focus your efforts downstream from the main spawning activity and along the edges where Steelhead have been pushed out.
A quick reminder: please be mindful of active redds. Avoid dropping anchor or wading through spawning beds. Responsible fishing helps protect our salmon population and ensures great fishing for seasons to come.
