Feather River Fishing Report
Howdy folks, Jon Hubbard here with Fly Fishing Specialties and Nor Cal Fly Guides. I spent my Saturday, September 6th, on the Feather River, and here’s the latest report.
Current Conditions
Flows are holding steady around 700 CFS with crystal-clear water. A few salmon are staging in the system, and while the numbers of steelhead aren’t huge yet, conditions are setting up nicely for those of us who love chasing that one special Feather River steelhead.
Fishing Outlook
Fishing right now is fair to good. If you’re a steelhead fanatic like me, this is a great time to be on the water. Fish are actively hitting caddis and mayflies, and while you may need to work a bit, there are enough grabs out there to keep things exciting.
Get out and enjoy the river while the weather cools down—it’s absolutely beautiful this time of year. Even if you don’t find big numbers of fish, the conditions make it worth the trip. If you need gear, flies, or just some friendly advice, swing by the shop. We’ll get you set up for success and ready to enjoy your day on the Feather.
